Bindu Community Has Fun Walk While Collecting Trash

Morning aura is so pronounced. Natural scenery of local village looks so beautiful and really clean. Hundreds of people passed through the subak pathway while chatting cheerfully. Sometimes their conversation is intervened by bird songs or the sounds of grasshoppers. Grass of field embankment, green paddy and crops belonging to farmers are also seen fresh and greet the morning.

It is the atmosphere of trekking path at Subak Gaga, Bindu customary village, Abiansemal, Sunday (Jan. 3). Village community thronged the activities of fun walk in the series of Mother’s Day and welcomed the New Year 2016. Interestingly, more than 400 people consisting of children, youth and the elderly supported by Furama Villas & Spa Ubud joined the fun walk while picking up plastic waste.

They explored the overlay of paddy field while chatting. They were picking up plastic waste found along the pathway. The distance is about five km starting in front of the Bindu rural credit agency (LPD) and then came down to Subak Gaga, Munduk Payaman, Munduk Bija and returned to Bindu village.

Chairman of the committee who is also the chief of the LPD Bindu, I Gusti Nyoman Suastawa, said that the activity was regularly held every year. Other than maintaining the relationship among the residents, this activity is also meant to support Bindu as a tourism village. “People are invited to try the Bindu trekking path commonly passed through by travelers,” he said.

While walking, people are picking up trash to make the village clean and healthy. By doing so, the tourism village program can work well and bring in more visitors. “In the future, the LPD will also generate small businesses in cooperation with developers to accelerate the development of tourism village. Hopefully, this can support the LPD, customary and tourism activities,” he said.

For trekking path, explained Suastawa, has been routinely utilized by foreign travelers, mainly those from Europe. There are also travelers from Australia and Asia organized by travel agencies. “This trekking path is indeed very unique because along the route travelers can also see medicinal plants, irrigation systems and how to produce rice,” he added.

Chief of Bindu customary village, I Wayan Sandiyasa, said that the activity is meant to inspire people to live a clean life, so that tourism village can soon be materialized. In addition to the exercise, they also get a gift and snack prepared by the LPD as the organizer. (BTN/015)
