Have you been to Hidden Canyon Bali? This tourist attraction is quite unique and the only one in Bali. Young people in particular like this because it has a hidden secret that can only be read by imagination. Hidden Canyon Beji Guwang or just Hidden Canyon Bali is located in the Beji River close to the Dalem Temple of Guwang village, Sukawati, Gianyar.
From Sanur, it can be reached within approximately 20 minutes, about 6 minutes from Sukawati art market. In the past, the presence of Hidden Canyon was rarely touched by human. However, in the current era of social media, this new destination is very crowded. Moreover, the attraction having river flow fortified with sharp rocks on the right and left bank starts being at issue among the people.
Hidden Canyon becomes a new alternative tourist attraction on the island. Aside from local people, visitors from outside the region and overseas also start to make a visit. From next to the temple, visitors must step down the stairs to the bottom of the valley. Here is the access to Hidden Canyon starts. The number of steps to be passed is quite a lot, so that it requires fit stamina.
Having stepped down some stairs, you will see a shower area normally used by local residents as a venue of melasti (a purificatory rite of sanctified effigies and ritual paraphernalia). Further, go down the river and walk along the rocks area of about 700 meters to reach the location of the hidden valley. Sometimes, you must climb small cliffs, rocky terrain and then pass rock areas again.
Actually this location is categorized into a sacred place of the Hindus, so that visitors must behave politely in the act or speech. The appeal of this Bali’s Hidden Canyon lies in the view of rock cliff with a height of about 20-30 meters with blue sky streams. Visitors can take advantage of the scenic beauty of the cliff as a backdrop of photograph.
Natural river banks have sneaky contour and look very interesting. There are 3 secret valleys that can be seen with a travel time of about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Rock cliffs have different shapes according to the imagination of visitors. They can look like a form of skull, tiger, monkey’s head or even a person with a sad or smiley face.
Forms of the face are sometimes evident after viewing the picture. On that account, this new tourist attraction is often called a secret valley. Probably, the form is fixed, but the cliff color changes due to the effects of sunlight and humidity level. “Visitors are usually take photograph with the background of the cliff,” said Komang Bayu, Chief Operations of the Hidden Canyon attraction.
In order to be able to reveal the secret of the cliff, visitors will be subject to a voluntary donation. After writing on guest book, visitors will be escorted by a native tour guide. Visitors are expected to be polite because the Hidden Canyon area is a sacred place. According to local people, there is a belief if the psychical inhabitants of the Hidden Canyon are yellow tiger and white dragon. “Visitors often take advantage of the area as a place of meditation,” said Bayu.
Every day, the Hidden Canyon is always crowded with visitors. They consist of local communities, domestic travelers from some cities in Java and Sumatra, and foreign travelers such as from Europe, Germany, the Netherlands, Asia, Thailand, Korean, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia and others. “Most travelers are those looking for a challenge,” said Bayu.
