Enjoying Nature of Paddy Fields at Sengkiding Agrotourism

Sengkiding hamlet, Aan, Klungkung has a tourist attraction created by Wahyu Para Studio that combines agrotoursim with cultural tourism. Despite providing a variety of attractions and exotic natural scenery, there is not admission fee for visiting the attraction.

Sukanta Wahyu who is known as a fine artist, came up with the concpet of this unique attraction that offers a pristine natural environment that spreads over 40 hectares of lands as well as variety of cultural attractions and artistic products. Wahyu who also decorared the Japanese Cave attraction explained that Sengkiding opened in early January 2016.

Visitors are invited to have a tour of the site where they can enjoy  hundreds of sculptures and paintings set in a beautiful natiural environment. They can also enjoy walking amongst the vegetables that grow here including eggplant, chilies, bananas, papayas and other crops. For those who like a longer walk, there are nearby paddy fields that russle with the sound of the flow of irrigation water. “We also present a painting demonstration, traditional music, bamboo traditional music and the Barong Bangkung dance” said Sukanta Wahyu.

Since the site has opened, many foreign travelers from contries including Australia (Aborigine), Belgium, Germany to Spain have visited. Unlike many other tourist attractions, here visitors to not need to spend a singel penny to enter this beautiful 4.000 square meters land that offers unspoiled views and a bulding to sit back and relax or take a short 1 km treck. “It’s up to travelers if they want to make a donation or not, regarldess we still serve them well” explained Wahyu.

One visitor named Miss Dorothy Summers, said that she brought her student here so that they could enjoy nature first hand. “I am very happy to bring my students here. Apart from being able to enjoy nature, they can also learn about Balinese culture and lcoal activities”, Miss Dee.

Dee added that what she liked best was what was presented by the Wahyu Para Studio. The arrangement of the agrotourism and culture is very integrated with nature, she said. “The site remains natural and our students are very pleased to learn while playing”, concluded Miss Dee.
