Puncak Penulisan Temple, located in Sukawana village, Bangli County at an altitude of 1,745 meters above sea level, is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva as one of the manifestations of God Almighty. This temple houses many relics that date from between the Megalithic periode, up until the Hindu era in Bali. The temple structure combines aspects of pre-historic construction with later design concepts.

The temple consitst of 7 levels, the first two of which are connected by a stair case. On the third level stand the temples of Dana and Taman Dana and Ratu Penyarikan Temple on the fourth level and Ratu Dahatua Temple on the sixth. Finally on the top level we find a place of worship called Pengaruman, Piyasan, and a chamber for storing ancient objects. Allegedly, construction of the temple began in 300 AD (Bronze Age) and resumed in the tenth century until it was completed at the end of the Majapahit era in 1343 AD.
