For those having a hobby in nature recreation, there is an interesting object to visit. It is the waterfall in Bangli that can be found at some locations. However, a few has not been well-known to the public. One of them is the Malet Kuta Mesir waterfall located at Malet Kuta Mesir hamlet, Tiga, Susut. Other than exuding beauty, around the waterfall also sits a mud puddle believed to be good for health.
It is located about 400 meters from village settlement. This seven-meter high waterfall is located in the middle of valley and has a thin stream of water. Around the waterfall also sits a large number of springs known as patirtaan. Habitually, the water looking very clear and free from contamination is often used by residents for ceremonial purposes. Nearby, there is a Taman Temple supported by surrounding communities.
Besides, at this location also sits a mud puddle with an area of about 1 x 1 meter. It is believed to have the capability of curing various diseases. “The water at the patirtaan often used for purificatory ritual, while the mud is taken advantage as a scrub. It is believed to cure various kinds of diseases,” said chief of Malet Kuta Mesir customary village, I Wayan Rana, Wednesday (Sep. 14).
In addition to surrounding residents, the efficacy offered by the springs and mud is also able to draw the attention of people from other regions such as Denpasar, Gianyar and Badung. Their arrival usually coincides with the auspicious day or holy days. The oblation presented is only canang. “The canang will be presented at Taman Temple,” he said.
Though it is very potential, the facility for waterfall visitors is very limited. The road access to location is still inadequate. In the future, the village is planning an arrangement. It is carried out for the interests of society in conducting ceremony but attracting foreign travelers to make visit.
“Since four years ago, many foreign travelers have cycling tours here. Each day they can reach one hundred people but only pass through. We think it could be one of the supports for the arrangement of this waterfall,” said Rana while adding that location of waterfall is quite close to the Tampaksiring Palace and can be reached within about 10 minutes by car.
