Sekar Bumi Farm & Florist (SBFF) is the name of this new tourist attraction. However, people often call it the Flower Garden. It is located at Kerta village, Payangan, Gianyar, or about 43 km from Denpasar. Perched at the altitude of 700 meters above sea level, Sekar Bumi Farm & Florist is a lovely center for the plantation supplying a wide range of cut heliconia flowers.
There are more than 200 types of flowers, including torch bananas, lime banana, the Caribbean and yellow dancer with a variety of colors. “Sekar Bumi supplies a wide variety of cut flowers and cut leaves demand as well as decorative plant for tourism industry,” said Ketut Subagia, the SBFF owner.
Aside from being the cultivation of flowers, this object also offers outbound and agro-tourism as a suitable destination for family. For travelers wishing to get challenge, they can take advantage of a variety of games available such as flying fox, fine ball, trekking, cycling and outdoor games that can accommodate a large number of participants.
The flying fox here may be the longest in Bali. Length of the rope reaches 500 meters to 700 meters. Its track is also unique as passing over a cliff, hanging bridge and five points with very stressful moment. In the meantime, fine ball is gut-challenging game with a range of 10 meters. The bullets are made of organic materials so that the waste will not harm nature.
Other than being good for relaxation, this beautiful tourist spot is also a place of education for children. Through the garden tour program, visitors can get lessons on the environment such as arranging cut flowers, learning about farming, planting, fertilizing, picking crops, visiting rare trees and making compost.
Visitors liking to live with nature, they can do camping here. Although located on a plateau, the SBFF has prepared ready-to-drink fresh water. This water flows through a tunnel formerly used by local community to irrigate their paddy fields. There is also a stage intended for visitors wishing to celebrate their happiness here.
Native irrigation system to Bali, namely subak, is completely available here. Visitors can also experience the activity of farmers in Bali like plowing paddy fields by cows, rice farming, looking for eels and fish. The soil here is so fertile, and at the edge of it sits an old house and spacious parking lot.
The presence of the SBFF can promote Kerta village with panoramic views to the people outside the region and overseas. Moreover after the SBFF received numerous awards, this object is increasingly visited by many travelers from around the world. “There are travelers coming here specifically to arrange flowers in addition to enjoying a variety of exciting games,” said Subagia.
