Beauty of the beach offered by Badung district, aside from Kuta, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran is Batu Pageh Beach. Located at Ungasan village, South Kuta, it belongs to the area of Batu Pageh Temple. Batu Pageh Beach does not have too extensive area. However, this beach is surrounded by rocks, so that it becomes one of the uniqueness owned by this beach. The rocks make the existence of the beach look hidden and private. The name Batu Pageh is also taken because of this phenomenon.

In Balinese language, /pageh/ means fence or rigid. Thus, Batu Pageh means the beach fenced by ‘rigid rocks.’ The rocks look soaring high and steep. In addition to the phenomenon of coastal rock, the name of the beach is also equated to the name of a temple located on the beach. Before heading for the Batu Pageh Beach, visitors must walk down 328 stairs. Along the walking down, the eyes of visitors will be pampered with a variety of stunning sea views.

The waves looking to mutually chase can also be observed when walking down the stairs. In addition to the rocks, the atmosphere of Batu Pageh still looks beautiful and tranquil. Serenity of the beach allows the seaweed to grow and thrive very well. Expanse of clean white sand and blue sea water makes the beach appropriate for a visit when travelers want to enjoy a new atmosphere. Moreover, the beach is still rarely visited by people so that visitors can freely enjoy the scenery on this beach.

This beach has been equipped with some facilities, such as quite extensive parking space. A number of good places to eat can also be found in front of the Batu Pageh Temple.(BTN/014)
