Claire Ameya Bela, a woman from San Diego, the United States of America, cannot hide her excitement when she is on the Island of the Gods. Her face is always radiant, smiling and friendly when spoken to. “This is my first time to Bali specifically to learn Balinese yoga at Shanti Toya Ashram,” he said after performing the mejaya-jaya ritual before studying yoga on Friday (Jan. 6).

This friendly woman is a professor who indeed likes Balinese Hindu with its cultural uniqueness. She considered that Balinese people have a unique way in living their life without ruling out harmonious relationship with the natural environment, with fellows and with God. “I am attracted to Hinduism. Hindu society is very close to God. I feel confident that Hinduism is associated with yoga,” she said.

It is the reason making her deliberately come to Bali just to learn yoga. She considered the yoga teachers in Bali are professional and good. Of the many places of learning yoga, Claire Ameya Bela chose to learn at the Shanti Toya Ashram under the guidance of Pradnya Wati who is also the founder and owner and the yoga assistant at the Gokul Yoga Bali. “I love the atmosphere and aura at the Shanti Toya Ashram as well as it very much supports. Beautiful ambience like being in the middle of the forest makes people friendly and nice,” she said.

She added that when seen from the outside the location is just a rural jungle with a variety of local plants. However, after entering into the forest, in fact there are a lot of people from different countries doing activity together. “Although we are from different countries in the world, we are happy to stay and do the yoga activities together. We feel like brother, so that it is really nice and comfortable,” said Claire Ameya Bela while adding that she knows this location through the website address at www.shantiretreatsbali.org and www.gokulyogabali.com.
