Independence of the students of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar is no longer doubted in the matter of their art creativity. Simply look at their action in the final assignment exhibition at the Bali Art Center. Students of the Faculty of Fine Art and Design (FSRD) exhibited their creative and criticizing works that are filled with meaning. The exhibition with the theme ‘Infinity of Life’ as a form of balance between theory and practice took place on January 17-20, 2017.

Rector of the ISI Denpasar, Prof. I Gede Arya Sugiartha, said that dozens of students present a unique story through the work of art framed with a theme. It has been a commonplace for students when taking education at this only art college in Bali. “Since the third semester, students have been required to produce their work of art. So, from the various works, they have looked for the essence from the end of the third to final semester becoming the pinnacle of presentation for their works,” he said.

The works presented by these academic artists are somewhat innovative that are in keeping with the development of times and technology. Creativity of students is utilizing technology and able to read the rolling times. “So, they do not only make classic works. Local wisdom with the value of Balinese tradition remains to become their object. However, their way of thinking is more modern,” said Prof. Arya.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art and Design, I Made Rinu, said the exhibition is held at the Bali Art Center because the ISI Denpasar has made cooperation with it. It is also meant to improve the academic quality, creative process of art and unlimited artistic life. “Creative process requires long, spacious and profound exploration considering that diverse aesthetic creations has been created in front of us and they have given the source of development up to these days,” said Rinu.
