This man familiarly addressed as Lolec said that when working on the MICE market, a number of destinations in Indonesia should prepare their MICE products supported with flight accessibility. This year, central government will prioritize five destinations including Medan, Jakarta, Bali, Makassar and Manado to prepare their MICE products. “Actually there are totally 16 destinations, but only five to be prioritized first within 1-2 years to come,” he said.

After preparing the accessibility and infrastructure, the MICE potential at the destinations is then summarized and packaged into promotional material. Regarding the promotion, each local government should work with central government to coordinate the sales of tourism products in international promotional events such as the ITB Berlin, ITB Asia as well as the ATF and others.

It is very necessary because the current competition is very tight. In 2016, more MICE activities were organized by domestic and Asia-Pacific companies. As for 2017, the potential international MICE market includes Europe, America and Australia. However, each market has its own characteristics. For example, the Australian market comes to Bali to organize MICE activities in June, July, August, September and October, while American and European market depends on the conditions in each country.

Central government plays an important role in disseminating the image of security of destinations in Indonesia becoming the target of the MICE activities in 2017 will be right on target. “America has a strong incentive market coming to Bali, while Australian incentive and association are for meeting or conference.
