It is different from the bignay salad on sale that applies complete sauces.

It is very rare to find a merchant serving bignay fruit. If available, it will be sold by particular merchants. Besides, it is hard to get the fruits and this rare type of fruit is expensive. In addition, children of current generation rarely know this fruit. They do not know, so that not many of them choose this type of salad.

Bignay fruit has a rounded shape but is smaller that grape. When being ripe, it will turn blackish red. But when young and green, it tastes sour. The red one tastes a bit sweet. When turning into blackish red, it means that it has been ripe, so that it will taste sweeter. As a seasonal fruit, it usually bears fruit at the beginning of the year.

Today, it is hard to find bignay. Its trees are rare because it has become extinct.
