Maintaining Diversity in Fine Arts

Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar presented its final assignment of even semester 2016/2017 in an exhibition. The exhibition took place four days (Jun. 13-16) at Citta Kelangen Building, at local campus. Entitled “Maintaining Diversity in Works of Art and Design” the exhibition involved 185 students

Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar presented its final assignment of even semester 2016/2017 in an exhibition. The exhibition took place four days (Jun. 13-16) at Citta Kelangen Building, at local campus. Entitled “Maintaining Diversity in Works of Art and Design” the exhibition involved 185 students from six departments of the FSRD.

The work presented offers diversity value, different yet beautiful. Featuring very diverse topics, it is able to answer any existing phenomenon. Most importantly, the works express the values ​​and messages with idealism and positive things. Similarly, they are very creative and innovative so as to offer attractive exhibition.

For instance, the work of I Putu Adi Natha, a student of Visual and Communication Design, is designing a packaging of coconut flavored product. The packaging design is made by combining the traditional art and modern painting. His work adopts local excellence, where chocolate product with coconut flavor is the only genuine Balinese product designed elegantly.

In addition to the work of Visual and Communication Design, hundreds of students’ works of some other departments are also interesting and marketable. This time, the number of students participating in the final assignment exhibition are mostly from Visual and Communication Design (67 students), Fine Arts (14), Photography (16), Fashion (33), Television and Film Department presents 5 documentary films, 2 fiction films and 1 television program.

The exhibition was opened by Rector of the ISI Denpasar represented Deputy Rector in Charge of Student Affairs, I Wayan Gulendra, accompanied by the Dean of FSRD, Ni Made Rinu, department heads, lecturers and students. “Diversity is the characteristic of a work. In this case, the creative work of students presented is quite diverse, different from each other obtained based on observations in the community,” said Gulendra.

The inspiration can be obtained from various sources. With such difference or diversity, it gives excellence in their works. The matter of artwork is the expression of the senses, the language that can be captured by the community through the art having its own uniqueness. “Well, we process these matters through the elegant and ethical artworks so that become an artwork,” he explained.

Ni Made Rinu added that the exhibition is meant to maintain the diversity of each department as a form to establish a very high tolerance “We can see it in this exhibition. They show off it, and we still advise to always maintain the ethics, commitment and togetherness well. The achievement also needs to be maintained because it is very important,” she said.
