Putrawan, the billiard player of Hard Rock, came out as the winner of the nine-individual-ball category in the event entitled “The Billiard Tournament 2017” held by Bali Hotels Association (BHA) in cooperation with the Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali and Bali Travel News (BTN) at Paradiso Bowling and Billiard Center, Kuta, on Thursday
Putrawan, the billiard player of Hard Rock, came out as the winner of the nine-individual-ball category in the event entitled “The Billiard Tournament 2017” held by Bali Hotels Association (BHA) in cooperation with the Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali and Bali Travel News (BTN) at Paradiso Bowling and Billiard Center, Kuta, on Thursday (Jun. 15).
Meanwhile, the second winner was Sartika (Conrad) and the third winner was Surna (Sintesa). The tournament was opened by Deputy Chairman of BHA, Jacques Clarijs. He is proud of the billiard competition among the hotel employees because on the sidelines of their busy activities of serving hotel guests, they still have time to play billiards to defend the hotel where they work. Therefore, hotel employees having regular exercise can improve the quality of their performance.
Executive Director of the PHRI, Ida Bagus Purwa Sidemen, stated that the regular event held is increasingly favored by hotel workers. Evidently, the similar event last year was followed by 24 participants but now increased to 34 participating billiard players.
On the other hand, Government Relations and Event Manager of the BHA, Andy, admitted that his party deliberately scheduled the individual competition on Thursday, while the team category was held on Friday (Jun. 16). It is solely meant to provide an opportunity for athletes to get down in individual and team category.
“We do not want this championship among the hotel workers to interfere with their regular activities. Moreover, if the individual and team category is held simultaneously, it is feared to have an impact on their working schedule, and it’s a pity they cannot concentrate,” he explained.
He added there was a surprise in the individual category, like last year’s runner-up, Yoga (Ayana), should be eliminated in the tournament applying double elimination system where the athlete is eliminated after experiencing twice losses. In the preliminary round, Yoga was defeated by his teammate Sudianta, and subdued by Sartika (Conrad). Moreover, last year’s champion, Michel, was also defeated by Putrawan in the 16-big round.
In the team category, Sintesa won the tournament. In the final, the team from Sintesa defeated Ayana 2. The Sintesa team consist of Agung Andi Purnama, Anggik and Ketut Surna while Rata, Kodhik, and Pandi played for Ayana 2.
The third winner was Ayana 1 with the players Michel, Yoga, and Yaya while the fourth winner was Upasha. Sintesa was going through looser team spot and they played their way to the top and become the winner. (BTN/kmb)
