Tanah Lot tourist attraction held a national event entitled Tanah Lot Kreatifood & Art Festival. The first creative culinary event combining Balinese art and culture will last for three days (Jul. 7- 9). “This festival introduces the unique cuisines of Tabanan. This time we do promotion through cuisines,” said Operations Manager of Tanah Lot attraction, I Ketut Toya Adnyana, in the media meeting on Tuesday (Jul. 4).
He added that Tabanan district is actually very rich in culinary treasures. However, they have not been featured and introduced to wider community including tourists. Through the Tanah Lot Kreatifood & Art Festival, all the potentials will be promoted, including kuwir nyanyad, gegodoh rangda and es telabah from Penebel subdistrict, entil and kopi leak from Pupuan and es danu beratan from Baturiti. “This festival involves 20 culinary entrepreneurs in Tabanan,” he added.
The festival featuring the theme Luhuring Segara Rasa lan Raksa also brings in three national artists such as Chef Juna who will demonstrate the menu with the ingredient of kuwir or Muscovy duck. Chef Juna will also take darma wanita and the students in the Sudden Food Competition event. “This activity will be directly uploaded in his Twitter account, so that many people will read it and this will be done by Chand Kelvin,” said Assistant Manager, I Wayan Sudiana.
A new thing in this event is the gebogan parade performed by women in customary attires. They uphold the gebogan or fruit arrangement while walking from the exhibition parking area to Tanah Lot involving 23 traditional villages as well as other villages in Tabanan. It will consist of a row of lelontek (pennant ritual paraphernalia), pecalang (customary security guard) and accompanied by baleganjur gamelan music. “Gebogan consists of three rows of local and national fruits. On top, there is puffin and then carried while giving respect,” he explained.
For three days, visitors are pampered with a variety of classical arts, such as barong bangkung street show, gong kebyar, children rindik, contemporary dance, legong dance, prembon, classic arja operetta, Ramayana epic, slonding, kecak api, bondres, joged bumbung, Akah Canging Balinese gag, Sengkok and Bondres Susi. Other entertainment, include Joni Agung, Taste the Sunset with Gita Bhaskara Ethnic, Gus Teja, Bondres Celekontong Mas.
For the sudden chef contest, it will be followed by chef of school teachers, hotels and restaurants in Tabanan. Especially for the promotional menu like the Today’s Special Menu for lunch will be prepared by Chef Juna & his assistants, menu creation competition (students of vocational schools across Tabanan) presents Chef Juna as the judge and Mrs. Eka Wiryastuti as honorary judge.
