Simply look at on Sunday (Dec. 3), headman of Mekar Bhuana, I Gusti Made Sudiana, handed over ornamental plants to the Chief of the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis) of Bindu customary village. “Mekar Bhuana village is providing nursery transplant from the village budget plan (APBD),” said Sudiana.

The 1,300 ornamental nursery transplants consisting of 14 species are aimed to preserve the environment. It also means to support the Bindu customary village as a beautiful tourism village. “If the beautiful, safe and convenient tourism village can be realized, we do hope it can bring in tourists. Thus, it has an economic impact on the people of Bindu village,” he hoped.

Chief of Pokdarwis, I Gusti Made Rai Kardita, said that in the effort to make the Bindu village into a tourism village, it must be accompanied by organizing the environment. The arrangement starts from the house-front garden along the main road, so it turns greener and looks more beautiful. The activity raises the theme ‘To Be Cleaner, Green and Sustainable Bindu.’ The action to beautify the house-front garden (telajakan) is done in cooperation with Furama Villas & Spa for the maintenance as one of the developers at Bindu customary village,” he said.

Meanwhile, active members of Bindu village tourism group amounting to 25 people have arranged a variety of attractions. Some attractions on offer include spiritual activities such as healing and yoga, trekking, tubing and traditional farming by offering gardening activities, transplanting rice and plowing paddy fields. “All the tourist attractions have been tried by tourists, especially foreign tourists. Most of them tried to experience the healing service,” he said.

Ketut Laba, Room Division Manager of Furama Villas & Spa Ubud, said that since the beginning Furama has been involved in realizing the Bindu village into a tourism village. It becomes the responsibility of the hotel to the surrounding environment. Furama also has a program to provide hotel-, agrotourism- and tourism-related education for elementary school students at the village as well as other social activities. (BTN/015)
