Ngurah Rai University Expands to Thailand

Ngurah Rai University Expands to ThailandGraduate Program of the Ngurah Rai University (UNR) Bali made cooperation with the College of Local Administration of Khon Kaen University, Thailand. The cooperation was marked by the signing of the MoU by the UNR Graduate Program Director, Prof. Dr. A.A. Samudra, and Prof. Sopawatanakornwongtha Navasu, PhD from the Khon Kaen University, Thailand, Tuesday (Jan 22). The signing ceremony was witnessed by Associate Prof. Peerasit Kamnuansilpa, PhD, Dr. Hirofumi Ando and Ayla Pino-Calumpang, while the UNR was witnessed by Director of Administration Graduate Studies, Dr. Ni Putu Tirka Widanti.

According to Samudra, the cooperation established would be in the exchange of students, faculty and academic staff as well as research collaboration. In addition, it would also be related to the exchange of the educational information, publications and results of research. “Right now, we’re sending 12 lecturers to take doctoral program to several universities at home and overseas,” he said.

Samudra added the current trend was the study in combination with tourism package. On that account, the Graduate Studies of the UNR invited people from the white elephant country (Thailand) and other countries to study at the UNR Bali. “If they are getting college holiday season, they are not going to see their families by going home. Instead, they will invite all the family members to Bali for a vacation,” he said.

So far, the activities conducted with other universities were the exchange of results of research. Among them, it had been established with Thammasat University (Bangkok), Saigon University (Vietnam), Maefaeluang (Thailand), Korea University, University Utara Malaysia, Mindanao State University (the Philippines) and several universities in Indonesia.
