Free
Shuttle Bus for Tourists
Welcoming the three great events that will
be organized in Denpasar City, namely the
Maha Bandana Prasada (18-20 September),
Asian Beach Games (16-26 October) and Gajahmada
Festival (December), the Denpasar Municipality
through the Denpasar Government Tourism
Office will operate free shuttle bus service
for tourists. This facility is provided
for tourists spending holidays in Denpasar
City during the events taking place, to
reach the tourist attractions and objects
existing downtown. This was conveyed by
the Head of Denpasar Government Tourism
Office, Putu Budiasa, not long ago.
Budiasa explained that 2 buses will be available
having the seating capacity for 40 passengers.
The route to be used by the shuttle passes
through Semawang Hamlet to Inna Grand Bali
Beach, Griya Santrian Hotel, Pergola Restaurant
Sanur and head for the Bajra Sandhi Monument,
Matahari Department Store, Puputan Badung
Square and Art Center. From Art Center,
the bus returns to Semawang Hamlet. “We
have arranged its time schedule and the
definite thing is that the first shuttle
bus will depart at 09.00 and the second
at 10.00 and so on. Please bear in mind
that this bus will not be available on usual
days,” revealed Budiasa.
Every shuttle bus will stop for 3 minutes
to pick up and put down passengers. When
being asked if the bus could be used by
general public, Budiasa explained that for
the time being, priority will be given for
foreign and domestic tourists. “We
have requested each hotel management to
jointly inform their guests of this service.
During the trial session of the shuttle
bus last month many tourists did not know
about this and they reluctantly got off
the bus as they thought it was a paid service,”
he explained.
“Especially for the Asian Beach Games”,
he added, “it is estimated that 5000
athletes and supporters will come here and
half of that number will stay in Sanur.
Certainly, this opportunity would be harnessed
to promote the tourist objects existing
downtown Denpasar by providing free shuttle
bus service”. (BTN/015)
