Colossal Tektekan and Okokan

TANAH LOT—This single performing art really thrilled the ocean of spectators. Moreover, when they enjoyed the string accompaniment of Balinese traditional bamboo music closely related to the life of farmers (Tektekan and Okokan) the atmosphere was even more delightful and brilliant. Then, it was further cheered up by the presentation of barong and rangda. As well as this the attraction known as ngurek or self-stabbing by kris dagger and trance created a subtly mystical atmosphere. It is a brief description of the show entitled Colossal Tektekan & Okokan. The theme for this event was “Heading for Tabanan as the Sacred Inspiration of Bali 2010”. It was supported by some 1,500 dancers the majority of whom consisted of farmers throughout Tabanan Regency. Such spectacular attraction was presented at two locations, namely at the Surya Mandala Cultural Park and in front of the Tanah Lot Temple, Friday (12/9). (BTN/015)
