Bale Udang Mang Engking

Travelling in Bali seems incomplete without enjoying a typical and delicious menus offered by Bale Udang (Shrimp Gazebo) of Mang Engking. The restaurant located near the tourist area of Kuta, precisely on Jalan Nakula 88 Sunset Road, serves traditional cuisine with the main ingredient of shrimp processed modernly and hygienically. With enhanced architecture and a touch of nature, the Bale Udang can provide comfort and warmth for family as well as friends.

Bale Udang Mang Engking poses a new concept of Food Hut of Mang Engking Kuta which now comes with a typical dish of shrimp as a main dish. Choice of the best shrimp and quality spices has given the unique and special flavor in every bite. Meanwhile, hospitality of the waiters will make an exotic and unforgettable culinary experience.

Having meals at the Bale Udang will make you feel like close to nature. The Gazebos are made of bamboo with reed thatch and surrounded by fish pond. Crowded atmosphere on the street is not visible because it has been fenced with plants and twigs. On that account, the view is getting more romantic, chiefly if eating at night. Dim lights of candles accompanied by relaxing music will be in harmony with the gurgling fountains. The Bale Udang can accommodate about 400 people. It has VIP room for gatherings, meetings, and wedding.

General Manager of Bale Udang Mang Engking, Rahadian H, said that Bale Udang Mang Engking has 20 types of special menu made from shrimp ingredients. However, the most special menu is Hurang Agung made of the various superior types of shrimp. Interestingly, one portion of this Hurang Agung can be consumed by four people.

“Vision of Bale Udang Mang Engking is to become the big three in Bali, especially in the category of restaurant serving food with shrimp ingredient. During this time, people have been familiar with Bebek Bengil, roasted suckling pig and now shrimp only exists in the Bale Udang Mang Engking,” he said on the sidelines of the Grand Launching of the Bale Udang Engking Mang attended by director and management of Mang Engking in Indonesia, travel agents, government and community leaders, Thursday (Dec 8).

Nevertheless, the Bale Udang also provides another menu made of gourami. Even, this menu has some varieties, including mortar gourami, sweet and sour gourami. There is also grilled beef seasoned with black pepper. Obviously, the seasonings have been adjusted because many foreigners also like Indonesian traditional cuisine. “In essence, the Bale Udang Mang Engking indeed tends to serve traditional dishes that can be enjoyed by many tongues,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Avila Hospitality Management, I Gusti A. Ngurah Dharma Suyasa said that grand launching of Gubug Makan Mang Engking into Bale Udang was linked to the third anniversary. “It started from a vision to give convivial Balinese dining atmosphere with a vision of Tree Top Mind Awareness for Indonesian restaurant in Bali,” he said.
