Catholic Church of Mary the Mother of All Nations (MBSB) located in the Puja Mandala complex Nusa Dua amassed tens of works belonging to domestic famous painters such as Afandi, Made Wianta, Cece Riberu, Wayan Suarmadi, Yudi Susanto, Andita Yanik and the others to be displayed in the local church hall meeting room. This exhibition took place on July 7- August 11, 2012.
Chairman of the Painting Exhibition Committee, Irwin Albert Maengkom, said the painting exhibition aimed at preserving Bali as the home of painting and raising funds for the completion of the construction of the MBSB church as well as commemorating the church anniversary. “At the closing of the exhibition, there will be an auction of painting by the painter Made Wianta,” said Irwin.
Meanwhile, the parish priest of the church, Father Evensius Dewantoro explained that the church was one of the five worship houses in the sanctum complex representing the interfaith tolerance in Bali.
“In this complex stand 5 sanctums: namely temple, Protestant church, Chinese temple, Catholic church and mosque,” he told. The presence of these five places of worship promoted Bali as an icon of the religious harmony in Indonesia. “Similarly, it is to answer the spiritual needs of tourists both domestic and foreign, tourism perpetrators and workers as well as the surrounding community,” added Father Evensius Dewantoro or familiarly called as Father Venus.
Meanwhile, associated with this event, the Secretary of the Indonesia Tourist Guides Association (HPI) of Bali, I Gede Kasna, when hearing the presentation of the executive committee in the secretariat of the HPI Bali, welcomed the event and requested the committee to prepare the materials related to the painting exhibition and distributed them to all the members of HPI Bali to support the activity.
In the meantime, Spokesperson of HPI Bali, Amos Lillo, during the visit to the MBSB Catholic Church said that his party would support the executive committee in conjunction with the painting exhibition. Several conferences and meetings in July and August would become good moment to realize the cooperation of HPI Bali with the organizing committee,” said Amos. (Image/ery)
