Woman figures have inspired every single piece of his works of art. Dancer style with colorful costumes provides endless imaginative space for him. Drawing of corpus in various styles still looks dominant. It’s a brief illustration about the solo exhibition of Wayan ‘Apel’ Hendrawan at Griya Santrian Gallery Sanur located at Jalan Danau Tamblingan 47 Sanur.
This artist from Sanur presented a total of 28 unique works made of oil on paper in his maiden solo exhibition. Aside from new works of art, he also featured few works produced during the period of his rehabilitation in Bangli Mental Hospital, a dark period in his life journey. Besides, there were also some other works highlighting his success in the arts and tattoo industry.
The exhibition entitled ‘Resurrection ~ From Darkness into Light’ was also filled with the launch of a short biography written by Richard Horstman. The biography narrated about the life story of Wayan Apel Hendrawan openly. Meanwhile, his art performance presented the KoBaGi, standing for the community of crazy body.
Because he had deeply involved in the realm of fine arts since 1995, Wayan Apel Hendrawan also coalesced into the group members of 10 Fine Artists that had organized so many joint exhibitions both at home and overseas.
The exhibition was opened by Ida Bagus Sidartha Putra on Wednesday (Jul 24) and lasted until September 16, 2013. (BTN/015)
