On the upcoming August 2, 2012 will be held the pinnacle of Mamungkah, Ngenteg Linggih, Mapadudusan Agung accompanied with Tawur Balik Sumpah Madya in the Blambangan Temple, Banyuwangi, East Java. Hindus are expected to assist the smoothness of ritual organized in the largest temple in Banyuwangi. This matter was revealed by Chief of Ritual Committee, Oentoeng Mardiyanto.
Mamungkah, Ngenteg Linggih and Mapadudusan Agung ritual whose pinnacle coincided with the full moon of the second month (sasih karo) in Balinese calendar was in contrast to previous ritual because the current one did not only involve the Hindus in Blambangan but also the Hindus in Banyuwangi and received great support from the Hindus in Bali. Preparation of the ritual had involved the oblation makers from Bali and Blambangan combining the oblation style of Bali and Blambangan.
Series of the ritual was commenced with acknowledgment ritual and measuring the ritual venue on Saniscara Wage Kulantir (Saturday) on July 14. Meanwhile, pinnacle of ritual would be held on Wraspati (Thursday) Pon Wariga August 2. The deity would receive worship from devotees for 7 days and closed on August 8, 2012.
He hoped the information about the ritual could be disseminated to the Hindus, so that more people could know about the existence of the temple.
The Agung Blambangan Temple was originally a songo pedestals denoting a relic of Blambangan Kingdom. It is located at Tembok Rejo Village, Muncar, Banyuwangi and the largest temple among the 92 other temples in Banyuwangi.
