Puri Taman Sari does not only offer a comfortable and peaceful rural accommodation, but also a spiritual center. It has a venue for meditation, yoga and treatment. Supported by pristine environment and surrounded by verdant rice fields, it can exude a positive aura. Puri Taman Sari is located at Umabian village, Marga subdistrict, Tabanan County or around 18 km north of Tabanan. Jero Mangku Made Subur Harta said that Puri Taman Sari indeed provided spiritual tour. This place had the spiritual aura that could evoke a magical atmosphere of the Mengwi kingdom era in ancient times. Such yoga venue was considered haunted because it was located in the area of teledu nginyah seng kauh namely a tributary of three large rivers where in the belief of Balinese Hindu it was a haunted place inhabited by supernatural beings.
At the location also lies a Dalem Tungkub Temple namely a special temple for those favoring to get involved in spirituality and it always exudes positive aura. Many tourists choose the location to practice yoga, meditation or other spiritual activities. Afterward, they are predicted by name, hands, chakra and aura to read their problems. Then, they are invited to take purificatory rite to cleanse the negative aura and do pilgrimage to some temples. The yoga activity offered is of the Sivananda tradition. Basically, its movements are almost the same as other tradition, but the emphasis is given on the breath, power and flexibility of the body. “This yoga applies triangle breath. There is also a pastrika pranayama or fast breathing and kapalabhati or abdominal breathing,” he said.
Yoga activity is commenced by practicing pastrika pranayama. After that, it is resumed with light movement. Two minutes later, the Sivananda tradition is combined with triangle breathing method. About an hour later, participants are taken to perform bending movement. “If participants can do the bending movement, it means they also have flexural mind,” he said. After practicing yoga, it is resumed with savasana relaxation where condition of the body sleeps like the dead (sava) for 10 minutes. The next is practicing kapalabhati for some 2-3 minutes and meditating about 5-10 minutes. After that, participants are taken to Prana Wellness Center of the Puri Taman Sari Umabian. There, participants are given herbal drink specially prepared in accordance with the Taru Premana palm-leaf manuscript. The ingredients in use are gotu kola leaf, star fruit leaf and Balinese orange.
Remaining in spiritual tourism, the participants are also invited to get to know about Balinese culture such as preparing oblation, bamboo and coconut leaf plaiting, cooking and preparing ritual cake where all participants are putting on Balinese customary attires. Besides, the participants are also given an insight on Balinese astrology, dancing and playing gamelan. According to Jero Mangku, based on guest comments, they really got a change after practicing yoga. Aside from getting relieved and fresh, their emotion was then cheerful and happy. “Indeed, in the first to third day they are crying and getting bored. But after entering the fifth day, they begin to feel the positive impact of yoga and even they come again,” he explained while adding that tourists from Europe, the United States, Russia, Australia, Japan, Lebanon and Iran were very fond of taking the package.
