Nusa Penida is one of four districts in Klungkung Regency; consist of 3 islands, namely Penida as the biggest, Lembongan and Ceningan. Tihingan Village in Banjarangkan Subdistrict is the center of gamelan makers. The making of gamelan instrument is done starting by unskilled workers to a special expert to synchronize the sound of gamelan. Most importantly, in this regard is the skill to synchronize the sound of gamelan. At Tihingan Village itself there are two groups of pande or gamelan smith.
Identification and Attractiveness
This monument or building is skyrocketing as high as 28 meters from the pedestal of the building located downtown Semarapura. The monument in the form of Lingam-Yoni and built in an area of 123 square meters was named Puputan Klungkung Monument and inaugurated by the Minister of Home Affairs on April 28, 1992. The entire monument building is made from black stone so it is in harmony with the meaning of Hindu philosophy, namely fighting all-out by the royal family of Klungkung Kingdom together with their people.
Kusamba Beach is a very interesting place to visit and located about 7 kilometers east of Semarapura City. Additionally, it is a fisherman beach and location of traditional salt-making. Every day, we can see the fishermen at sea searching for fish and farmers making salt at seaside.
Japanese Cave consisting of 16 openings was made on the cliff wall alongside the Semarapura- Denpasar road section, right over the Bubuh River. The cave located at the Northern and Southern tip are standing alone caves. Meanwhile, the 14 other caves are interconnected one another by a hallway. Interestingly, these very strategic Japanese caves are memorabilia of colonial era. In front of them, people can see attractive scenery with the flowing sound of Bubuh River.
Location of the Japanese Cave can be reached easily because it is situated alongside the Denpasar-Semarapura road section, precisely at Koripan Hamlet, Banjarangkan Village, Banjarangkan Subdistrict.
Kertha Gosa at Semarapura, Klungkung represents one ofthe famous tourist destinations
on the island. It is located in the heart of Semarapura town and its name is derived from Sanskrit words, namely kertha meaning peaceful and gasu from the word gositu Meaning announcement. On that account, the phrase kertha gosa conveys a building of Jurisdiction in the form of pavilion used by the kings to announce the legislation, jurisdiction, penalization and so forth, The building of Kertha Gosa is unique and fully embellished with high art value.
Goa Lawah Temple is located in Pesinggahan village which belongs to Dawan District, abot 9 kilometers east of Semarapura town. It is worth visiting for its strategic location at the seashore. With the wonderful view and the large parking area make it looks highly attractive. The activities of Hindu’s ritual ceremony are almost daily seen at the environment of Goa Lawah temple. The sight of bat hanging and clinging each others on the edge of the cave makes anyone excited.
Dasar Temple is located in Gelgel village which belongs to Klungkung District. It is located about 3 kilometers to the South of Semarapura town. This temple is an important temple in Bali because it is one of Kahyangan Jagat Temples ( Kahyangan Jagat means a general temple where all layers of populated clans may worship there ). The Hindu follower of all stratum and origins come to worship to this antique and artistic architecture temple.
Taman Sari and Penataran Agung Temples are located in the territory of Sengguan hamlet of Klungkung District. It is about 500 meters at north east of Semarapura town. Its environment is one of the interesting tourist objects with beautiful panorama at the back ground of hilly view. It is also the historical remains of Majapahit era. The weapons of royal heirlooms of Klungkung kingdom are brought to Taman Sari Temple to be ritualized. While, in Penataran Agung Temple is often used as a background of Barong Performance.
The holy place of Hindu in Bali called Pura (temple) which means castle or big house. One of the temples in Klungkung is Kentel Gumi Temple. Kentel Gumi Temple is located in Tusan village, Banjarangkan subdistrict, Klungkung district, about 43 kms from Denpasar. Literally, “kentel” means solid or intimate and “gumi” means earth. So, “kentel gumi” means the intimate atmosphere in the earth. The name of Kentel Gumi was given as a symbol of the resurrection of Bali Island by Mpu Kuturan after destructed by the authority of Maya Danawa in 962 C – 975 C. And Mpu Kuturan became a conceptor also a religionist rebuilt Bali Island until intimate and unite like before, by embedding a rectangle pole on the ground which then called Ratu Pancer Jagat which means new developing earth, or the rising of whole living.
