Tabanan
This hot spring is located at Penatahan Village, Penebel Subdistrict, approximately 13 km from the town of Tabanan and 34 km north of Denpasar. It offers beautiful natural scenery on the right and left side with the backdrop of amazing terraced rice fields. The hot spring is perched right on the banks of Yeh Ho River. Local people call the hot spring by Yeh Panes. Based on the results of research in the laboratory of the Department of Health, the hot spring is very good for bathing because it contains sulfur and other minerals. It is excellent for curing light skin diseases.
Puri Anyar and Puri Gede Palace in Kerambitan are two ancient and artistic palaces. Puri Anyar with the Puri Night attraction and Puri Gede with the Cultural Night present several interesting attractions such as Joged Bumbung and Tektekan. Together with the Joged dancers, every guest is convivially invited to dance in harmony with the accompaniment of Joged gamelan music.
Butterfly is one of the greatest offerings of the natural wealth of Indonesia spreading from Sabang to Merauke. Now, the wealth of assorted butterflies is gathered in a beautiful and tranquil park named Butterfly Park situated at Wanasari Village, Tabanan Regency, about 5 km north of Tabanan town. Every day hundreds of colorful butterflies fly around the park where some of them have been famous in the world such as the bird of paradise-winged butterfly (Omithoptera paradisea), Omithoptera priamus and various other types. The only one butterfly park in this archipelago is trying to breed and cultivate those species for the purposes of science as well as education in the future.
This temple was founded in the fifteenth century AD by Pedanda Bawu Rawuh or Danghyang Nirartha from Majapahit Kingdom, East Java. The Tanah Lot Temple is located at sea or separated from the mainland. Around the temple, there are also several small and big temples such as the Pekendungan Temple. Below and in the west, there are sources of fresh water becoming the holy water to the Hindus. Tanah Lot Temple is situated at Beraban Village, Kediri Subdistrict, approximately 13 km from the town of Tabanan. This destination has been completed with adequate parking lot. During the low tide, visitors can directly get to the court of the temple to pray. Below the temple lie several caves where some black-white sea snakes live. These snakes are very tame and may not be disturbed. If the tide goes up, this temple will look like a floating boat in the water. At Tanah Lot, we can witness the emergence of full moon at night and sunset on the west horizon. Both equally offer amazing attraction to see.
This Subak Museum is located at Sanggulan Village or 2 kilometers east of Tabanan town and about 4 km west of the road intersection leading to Kediri. Subak is irrigation system that can only be found on the Island of the Gods. The museum itself is established to persistently preserve the tools or knowledge about subak irrigation system.
Soka Beach is located 40 km from Denpasar or 25 km west of the city of Tabanan, right on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road section. Soka Beach has beautiful scenery and is great for a place to rest or stop over. On this beach lies a large pot of rock and an old kitchen belongs to Kebo Iwa as mentioned in the popular local legend.
On November 20, 1946, there was an all-out battle of the armed forces of the Republic of Indonesia against the Dutch colonialist at Kelaci Hamlet, Marga Village, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel I Gusti Ngurah Rai. The battle is better known as the war of Puputan Margarana. I Gusti Ngurah Rai along with all his troops was killed in the battle and all the ashes of the national great heroes are buried here. This memorial park is some 25 km from Denpasar or 13 km from the town of Tabanan. In this temple, we can see some documents such as the letter of I Gusti Ngurah Rai together all the members of the army known as the Ciung Wanara that never wanted to compromise or surrender to the invaders.
Jatiluwih, located on the altitude of 700 meters above sea level, is some 27 km north of Tabanan town. As a tourism village, Jatiluwih is one of the most beautiful objects in Bali. It offers broad panoramic views and unmatched terraced rice fields. In the north, it is backed by the densely forested mountains with a cool and clean air.
Alas Kedaton is situated at Kukuh Village, Marga Subdistrict, or some 4 km from the town of Tabanan. This temple has two kinds of uniqueness. Firstly, it has four entrances into the temple, namely the entrance from the west functioning as the main entrance, then from the north, east and the south. All the entrances lead to the middle courtyard. Secondly, the courtyard becoming the sanctum sanctorum is even lower than the middle and outermost courtyard. The sanctum is surrounded by a forest becoming the native home to a group of monkeys considered sacred. Besides, there also live a group of flying foxes suspending on the branches of large trees. When they are flying together, it generates a very interesting attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.
Piodalan or anniversary of this temple is celebrated on Tuesday (Anggara Kasih) or twenty days after Galungan. Uniquely, the ritual should be commenced at noon and should be completed before sunset. The temple is often called Alas Kedaton or Dalem Kahyangan Temple.
Bedugul poses a tourism area which lies on the altitude of 1,240 meters above sea level. This area is very cool with the average temperature of 18oC at night and 24oC during the day. Denpasar-Bedugul-Alas Kedaton-Tanah Lot is a very pleasant route from Denpasar to Bedugul. Bedugul is a cold mountainous area where there are Lake Beratan and Ulun Danu Temple. We can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery, water recreation and some others. From Bedugul, we can then resume our journey to Alas Kedaton where hundreds of grey monkeys and flying foxes live in the bijou forest surrounding the Alas Kedaton Temple built around the XV century AD. After that, we continue our trip to Tanah Lot which has been so familiar to all foreign tourists. At Tanah Lot lies a temple in the middle of the sea. When the sun will sink on the western horizon, it creates very magnificent scenery.
