The 101 Bali Fontana Seminyak held an activity entitled Earth Hour, the biggest movement for the environment which is always organized in the last week of March (Mar 26, 2022 to be exact). The activity is held in almost 190 countries and regions and by billions of people in the world. “Earth hour brings together millions of people around the world to show off solidarity for people and the planet,” said Marcom Executive/Executive Secretary, Esty Rahardyan, on Saturday (Mar 26).
The hotel located at Jalan Dewi Sri No. 68 also participated in the movement for the earth. “Every year, we always actively participate in earth hour activities, namely by switching off from 20:30 to 21:30 Local Time, and taking part in inviting hotel and café guests to take part as well,” she explained while greeting her guests.
For this celebration, The 101 Bali Fontana Seminyak collaborated with the Earth Hour Bali Team which is under the auspices of WWF to hold talkshow and a switch off with community friends and is open to the public. The talkshow entitled Responsible Marine Tourism was held in the Hepburn Meeting Room at The 101 Bali Fontana Seminyak.
The talkshow activity took place at 18:00–20:30 Local Time and was opened by Ni Putu Supartini as HRD Manager, with Ni Ketut Arismayanti as a lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University. While the second resource person was Dananjaya Bagaskara as the Signing Blue of the WWF Indonesia Foundation, and was attended by 60 participants where the participants had to register first in order to take part in the activity.
The attending participants seemed very enthusiastic in the open discussion. At 20:30 after the talk show ended, it was followed by the lighting of 60+ candles together with all participants in the pool area of The 101 Bali Fontana Seminyak accompanied by live acoustic music to light the candles together as a symbol of lighting when the hotel lights began to be slowly extinguished. “For an hour the blackout lasted, the 60+ candles remained to light and the participants sang along with live acoustic strains to make sense of the earth day,” she said.
As the end of the event, it was closed with dinner along with all the speakers, the Bali Earth Hour team and participants at Portabella Bistro, one of the restaurants at The 101 Bali Fontana Seminyak. The menu presented by Chef Soma was complete from Appetizer—Samosa, Main course—various menus processed from the archipelago and closed with various desserts—consisting of donuts, fruit ice and fresh fruit desserts to accompany dinner together while enjoying Earth Day 2022.
