Tanah Lot Maintains Tourist Visits with an Open House

The Tanah Lot Tourist Attraction, known as a cultural and natural tourist destination, is indeed full of arts and cultural activities. If local community activities carrying out ceremonial processions and prayers at the temple on particular days become a tourist attraction, then there are also special cultural events held here. For example, there is Tanah Lot & Food Festival usually held in June. “At the end of this year, we are holding an Open House again which of course has elements of local culture in this program,” said Assistant Manager, I Putu Toni Wirawan, Saturday (Nov 11).

At the Open House event, both foreign and domestic tourists as well as travel agents and tour guides were served with typical local culinary delights, such as tipat santok, rujak, klepon and daluman drinks. Then, for entertainment, there is joged bungbung dance originating from the buffer village of Tanah Lot. “This open house aims to give appreciation to foreign and domestic tourists, especially travel agents and tour guides who have brought guests to Tanah Lot,” said Jero Toni, his nickname.

The open house will take place on December 30–31, 2023 to January 1, 2024 as an opportunity to mutually give inputs for better services in the future. This means that from the beginning of the year until the end of 2023, we are exploring input in providing services, including facilities that need to be added. “We’d like to meet with stakeholders who are invited to work together in developing the Tanah Lot tourist area in the future. By that way, the Tanah Lot tourist attraction management gets input for the comfort and safety of tourists who vacation in Tanah Lot,” he explained.

The tourist attraction, located at Beraban Village, Kediri Subdistrict, Tabanan, regularly holds the Open House event every year. This is an effort to foster a sense of togetherness and cooperation with travel agencies and tour guides which have been going on for so long. “We create this sense of togetherness in a friendly event by presenting traditional art entertainment and various typical Tabanan menus. This is also an opportunity to promote culinary delights in Tanah Lot and Tabanan in general,” he explained.

Then, regarding the number of tourist visits, in November 2023 there is a slight decline. However, in early December 2023 it is hoped that there will be an increase, until the end of December 2023. Towards the end of the year, there is usually an increase in visits to Tanah Lot. “Hopefully in early December, tourist visits will start to increase. We had time to communicate with other operators of tourist attraction that in November there is indeed a slight decrease, both for foreign and domestic tourists,” he said.

Jero Toni further added that currently the daily average number of tourist visits reaches 4,000 to 5,000 people. Even though the number of daily visits is not yet the same as the number of daily tourist visits before the pandemic, the target proposed for 2023 has been exceeded. “Moreover, it has greatly exceeded the increase of almost 35 percent from the target. Hopefully in early December to early 2024 there will be an increase in visits,” concluded Jero Toni. (BTN/015)
