This art exhibition is unique and extremely attractive. The works presented are not only beautiful, but also retaining profound meanings. It is the description of the exhibition entitled “The Milestone” organized at Artotel Artspace Sanur – Bali. The joint art exhibition as the largest collaboration between Artotel Artspace in collaboration with Labx Gallery is open to the public from November 17, 2021 to January 31, 2022.
The journey of the art exhibition started from Jakarta and Yogyakarta and ended in Bali. Labx Gallery is a special vehicle for artists or creators to develop their works of art, either through collaborations or other art events. The art exhibition is presented by 8 talented Indonesian artists whose names have been familiar, namely Anis Kurniasih, Bahaudin, David Rivaldo, I Made Agus Saputra, Imelda Adams, M.A. Roziq, NPAAW, and Putu Bonuz Sudiana.
Literally, the milestone means ‘a stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles or kilometers to a particular place commonly found when going out of city.’ It is a distance marker, how far we will arrive at the destination city in front, or, how far we leave the city behind. However, the milestone also has the second meaning namely ‘an action or event marking a significant change or stage of development of each artist during their work and career in the world of art.’
The founder of LabX, Shinta Witoyo Dhanuwardoyo, stated that LabX Gallery is her initiation in developing the potential of local artists during a pandemic. “We collaborated with Artotel Group to create The Milestone exhibition. Hopefully, this exhibition can be the first step in realizing our vision and mission to bring the names of local artists to the international stage,” she said.
Meanwhile, Art Director of the Artotel Group, Windi Solomon, added that due to the full support from the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, and his staff, the creative industries, especially Indonesian artists, are able to get back to work after being vacuumed for one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia. “Artotel Group will also be continuously committed to always providing a platform for Indonesian artists to work and innovate through their creative ideas,” she concluded.
